This book will only help you if you want your home tolook as if it was done in the early 1990s. It is very dated.

I just saw this on amazon’s list,and I’m amazed.I have this book, which I bought, like, in another lifetime. It is old and dated, and there are many better and newer books on the market. Use this book only if you want your home to look as if it was decorated a decade ago. Otherwise, buy a newer book with fresher colors and designs.

I’m sorry I bought this book. Opening it was like walking back in time. I did not know how old it was until I had already bought the book. The how-to is OK but the decorating ideas (styles, colors) are old and dated.

When we purchased our new home there was much to be done. Because it was an older home lots of items needed to be completely over-hauled. With this book’s illustrations and instructions it made many of our home dec/sewing projects a breeze.

This book is an essential reference to sewing EVERYTHING you could possibly want to sew for your home. Very simple, easy-to-read instructions will have even a beginner making curtains in no time!
I’m an experienced sewer and have many newer home sewing books, yet I find myself reaching for this 1993 gem again and again.
The fabric choices and some of the styles (ie. floral prints and ruffles) ARE badly outdated, as other reviewers have pointed out, but of course you are free to use fashionable fabrics in your creations.
If you can afford to buy only one book on sewing for your home, I recommend that it be this one.
