This is probably a very good program but very hard to understand directions to make it all work. Still working on it after buying it 1 month ago.

Punch products apparently are designed for those familar with using CAD applications (Computer Aided Design). I have a post graduate degree, so I feel pretty good that I can follow instructions. Wrong! This software humbled me and what made it worse is that “How to” videos are included. This may be a remarkable tool for the professional engineer or landscape architect, but for the average Joe or Jane, it is a waste of money and a real disappointment. Let’s face it, many of us buy these programs because we have dreams of improving the curb appeal or serenity of our homes and these software programs will provide the landscape expertise that we do not have to do it on our own. This is not the program to achieve those dreams.

Used for landscaping yard, generally easy and definitely helped in selecting a final layout. Video tutorials are good but there is lots to learn so resorted to finding how some aspects of the program worked via Google searches. Plant pictures seem overrated – every plant is shown in full bloom even though many only bloom for one month a year. Makes it difficult to see how landscape will really look at different times during the year. Has nice function for laying out a sprinkler system. All in all a very good program for the price.

I bought this for my wife who wanted to plan our garden areas around the house. She was cussing at it in the first five minutes. After five more minutes of trying to help her I, too, was cussing at it. I went online and found something called REALTIME LANDSCAPING SOFTWARE by Idea Spectrum. (Google it!!!!) Their site had 3 software options with movie demos to watch. After watching the movies I ordered the “Plus” version and it not only was instantly downloadable but it installed in a fraction of the time that the Punch! software took. The download worked beautifully and in 5 minutes of running it my wife was saying, This is great…just what I wanted!” She kept repeating this as she played with it the rest of the day! The company also shipped a boxed version of the software as well and it came in just days! You will HATE the Punch software!!! You will LOVE the REALTIME LANDSCAPING software!! The buzzword that really caught my eye was they said it was “fun” to work with and they are absolutely right!!!! It’s a blast and my wife was letting out screams of joy as she was finding all the specific flowers she wanted to plant from the database. I just read this to my wife to see if she agreed and she wants me to add:

“I have ZERO patience and I NEVER read instructions! It would be easier to just go out in your yard and plant and replant until you found what you liked than to work with the Punch! software! With the REALTIME software, I read NO instructions and had my ground cover down and was placing my plants in five minutes NO PROBLEM! REALTIME LANDSCAPING software is not only FUN but s-o-o-o-o-o EASY!!!!!!”

You want to buy REALTIME LANDSCAPING software by IDEA SPECTRUM! TRUST ME!!!!

This software is extremely difficult to use, with this difficulty compounded by the fact that it doesn’t always work as it should. I have experience with various CAD programs and understand how things ’should’ work. This Punch stuff is far from it. I also write software and agree with the first reviewer: I would be hiding if this were my product. Don’t waste your money unless you like being frustrated.
